The Joshi­lyn Jack­son Sum­mer Read­ing Series, or Joshi­lyn Jack­son Reads, began in 2020 as a vir­tu­al series curat­ed by Georgia’s own best­selling author Joshi­lyn Jack­son. This part­ner­ship between Joshi­lyn, the Decatur Book Fes­ti­val, and the Geor­gia Cen­ter for the Book sought to pro­vide enter­tain­ment and good lit­er­a­ture for peo­ple dur­ing the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic. It was so well-attend­ed, the series con­tin­ued in 2021 and 2022 and has wel­comed such authors as Stacey Abrams, Mary Kay Andrews, Son­ali Dev, Nghi Vo, Kel­ly Quindlen, Gin Phillips, and more. Atlanta author and jour­nal­ist Nic­ki Sal­cedo joined Joshi­lyn as co-host in 2021. In 2022, Nic­ki and Joshi­lyn curat­ed the events, and they shared mod­er­at­ing duties with two spe­cial guest mod­er­a­tors, Car­men Tan­ner Slaugh­ter and Gin­ger Eager. 2022 was the first year this series was also in-per­son (at the First Bap­tist Church of Decatur) while stream­ing online via YouTube.
