The Joshilyn Jackson Summer Reading Series, or Joshilyn Jackson Reads, began in 2020 as a virtual series curated by Georgia’s own bestselling author Joshilyn Jackson. This partnership between Joshilyn, the Decatur Book Festival, and the Georgia Center for the Book sought to provide entertainment and good literature for people during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was so well-attended, the series continued in 2021 and 2022 and has welcomed such authors as Stacey Abrams, Mary Kay Andrews, Sonali Dev, Nghi Vo, Kelly Quindlen, Gin Phillips, and more. Atlanta author and journalist Nicki Salcedo joined Joshilyn as co-host in 2021. In 2022, Nicki and Joshilyn curated the events, and they shared moderating duties with two special guest moderators, Carmen Tanner Slaughter and Ginger Eager. 2022 was the first year this series was also in-person (at the First Baptist Church of Decatur) while streaming online via YouTube.
