Travis Hicks: Putnam Dairy Pasture

Putnam Dairy Pasture

This painting represents the dairy industry of Eatonton in general and, more specifically, Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church turned hay barn. The church structure was replaced by a more modern building in the 1960s, I believe; both structures still stand today, side by side, on Hwy. 16 between Eatonton and Sparta.

"This painting represents fond memories I have of growing up in Putnam County. Growing up I saw cows almost every day. And the Wesley Chapel building, now barn, represents the long-standing presence of the Hicks family in Eatonton. My great-grandfather was pastor of the East Putnam charge, which included my own home church, Philadelphia U.M., as well as Wesley Chapel U.M. Church." - Travis Hicks
